Tana Lawn - McNish

Playing with tonal harmonies, McNish is an abstract design featuring bold blocks of bright colors, overlayed with a powerful, black textured pattern. The statement print was first printed at Liberty’s Merton Printworks in 1962.

This collection celebrates the designs of Althea McNish, showcasing the Trinidadian designer’s unique eye for graphic, multi-layered prints in vividly tropical-infused shades. Hailing from Port of Spain in Trinidad and Tobago, she moved to England in the 1950’s and subsequently revolutionized the world of post-war British textile design with her bold and beautiful prints – starting with her very first collection, created as a freelance commission for Liberty Fabrics in 1958. Recreated from Althea’s designs in the Liberty Archive the collection exhibits her vibrant florals and textural patterns in exciting new colorways.
